Δομή του φερμουάρ
Τα φερμουάρ αποτελούνται απο τρία κυρίως μέρη:
- Ταινία
- Δόντια
- Οδηγός

Βασικά είδη οδηγών / Basic Sliders
| DF: Οδηγός που δεν κλειδώνει. Non-lock sliderΔεν υπάρχει μηχανισμός που να κλειδώνει τον οδηγό σε κάποια θέση The pull-tab does not lock at any position of the body. No locking mechanism.  |
DA: Αυτόματος οδηγός. Automatic sliderΌταν δεν ασκείται καμία δύναμη στον οδηγό, εκείνος κλειδώνει αυτομάτως, The lock automatically locks when no force is placed on the tab-pull.  |
DS: Ημι-αυτόματος οδηγός. Semi-automatic sliderΌταν η λαβή είναι στην κάθετη θέση προς τα κάτω, κλειδώνει. Μόλις σηκωθεί, ξεκλειδώνει. When the pull-tab is lowered, it locks. When the pull-tab is raised, it unlocks.  |

| DU: Αναστρέψιμος οδηγός. Reversible sliderΗ λαβή περιστρέφεται πάνω σε μια ράγα και επιτρέπει άνοιγμα και κλείσιμο απο 2 πλευρές. The pull rotates along a rail. The zipper opens and closes from the front or back.  |
TA/TX: Πλαστικός οδηγός. Plastic sliderΤο κλείδωμά του είναι μεταλλικό (αυτόματος οδηγός που δεν κλειδώνει). Locks are made of metal (non-lock, automatic).  |

Μέτρηση μήκους φερμουάρ (Α) και ανοχές
Measuring a zipper length (A) and tolerances
Για την σωστή μέτρηση, τοποθετούμε το φερμουάρ σε μια λεία επιφάνεια, απολείτως κλειστό και χωρίς να του ασκείται καμία πίεση. Ως μήκος κλειστού φερμουάρ ορίζεται η απόσταση απο το πάνω μέρος του οδηγού ως το κάτω μέρος του κάτω στοπ, ενώ για τα διαχωριζόμενα μετράμε από το πάνω μέρος του οδηγού ως το κάτω μέρος του κουτιού.
When measuring the zipper should be closed completely an placed on a smooth surface without any tension being applied to it. The length of a closed-end zipper is the distance between the top end of the slider and the tip of the bottom stop and for an open-end zipper is the distance between the top end of the slider and the tip of the box
